We believe that the patient’s ability to interact with family members, of all ages, positively affects their recovery during hospitalization. In addition, we believe that the illness to wellness continuum is a process that involves the entire family.  Visitation of inpatients at McDuffie Regional Medical Center will depend upon their:A. Diagnosis and condition B. Personal wishes of the patient C. Physician instructions regarding visitation D. Family input regarding visitors E. Judgment of the providers of your care. All visitors must be properly attired including shoes.Visiting hours will end at 8:00 p.m.Noise is to be kept at a minimum during visitation.There is to be no smoking under any circumstances while in the hospital.All valuables in the patient’s possession at the time of admission shall be given to the family for safe keeping.No medications or smoking materials should be brought to the patient.Food may not be taken to the patient without nurse approval. This is to ensure that the food has been prepared in accordance with prescribed diet orders.Security will be notified in the event that a visitor fails to follow direction given by the patient care staff.Visitors should limit the amount of time they spend with the patient. A family member may stay with the patient and we request that the mother and/or father always stay with pediatric patients.Infants are very susceptible to infections and should be protected from exposure to the conditions found here. If the patient wants to see an infant under special circumstances, arrangements should be made with your nurse.Children may visit on Med/Surg. and ICU but we request that you use good judgment in regard to their visitation. Children must ALWAYS be accompanied by an adult and should be taken out of the patient care area if they become noisy or upset. Children are to remain in the room of the patient they are visiting and will not be allowed in the hallways or waiting areas unless accompanied by an adult. Sickchildren should not be brought to visit. Patient care staff may, on occasion, request that visitors step out of a room so personal care can be provided. We request that you cooperate with the staff and follow their directions.McDuffie Regional Medical Center reserves the right to restrict visitation of both children and adults during outbreaks of contagious diseases, i.e., measles, mumps, flu, etc. Notices of such restrictions will be posted and the local media informed.Medical Surgical Unit We ask that no more than two (2) visitors at one time visit each patient.No more than one (1) child may visit a patient at a time.Any person staying with a patient after normal hours must obtain permission from the charge nurse.Intensive Care Unit We ask that no more than two (2) visitors at one time visit each patient. The nurses in ICU will work with the family on times and frequency of visits.No more than one (1) child may visit at a time.Perianesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Due to the nature of the PACU and its varying degrees of activity, visitors into the PACU are generally discouraged.Parent (s) of children will be allowed to see the patient when reactive and stable. Parental visitation in PACU will be determine on a case by case basis based on the needs of the child.Overnight Accommodations If circumstances dictate that a family member or friend should remain with a patient after visiting hours, the nurse will make every effort to accommodate the overnight guest. Check with your Nurse for more information. Gift Shop The Volunteer Auxiliary of McDuffie Regional Medical Center operates a fully stocked gift shop for your convenience, offering greeting cards, candy, and gifts. All proceeds of the Gift Shop go to the Hospital Auxiliary to purchase needed equipment for various areas of the Hospital. Chaplaincy Service Spiritual support from a Hospital Chaplain is always available during your stay. Quiet Rooms are located next to the Intensive Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit and the Emergency Department are open at all times for meditation. For more information about this service, please ask your Nurse or Patient Care Representative. Mail and Flower Delivery Delivery of mail to and from your room is provided by the Hospital. The Hospital’s address is 521 Hill Street, SW, Thomson, GA 30824. Flowers are delivered directly to you by area florists. Cheer Notes Cheer Notes are greeting cards that can be selected and personalized with a message, and then delivered to patients in the hospital by a simple click of your computer mouse.
